Here is my conclusion of that. My stock injector truck with all of the pump mods from Ratman Performance along with the pump turned up and a stock HX35 made 281hp, it ran great BUT as soon as I came off idle the factory diaphragm pump would go from 4psi to 0psi immediately. While there was still volume there to make the horsepower there was already no pressure even with only stock injectors, this puts a lot of stress on the vane pump inside of your VE and risks it seizing. With all of this being said this pump is absolutely a requirement for anything larger than a stock injector. BUT it is also great insurance on a truck just with stock injectors.

Next most asked question.. How much power can this lift pump support? This is also "if" "then" answer, with the stock fuel supply line this will support 500hp. After that the factory supply from the tank becomes the restriction, so you would need to purchase a sump of your choice with -8 or 1/2" line to run all the way to the lift pump inlet. Once this is complete you will be good for 600hp.

Installer tip: The metal hard line that goes from lift pump to the cylinder head may require tweaking. The fuel heater delete stud does exactly what it states, it removes the fuel heater which at this day in age will leak on every single first gen Cummins pickup still left on the road. The other failure point is the compression fitting o ring connection on the factory fuel line that runs from the Cylinder Head to the the VE pump inlet.

Lets talk Banjo Bolts! This kit comes with some custom banjo bolts that are impressive and look phenomenal. These have huge advantages in the flow AND fitment department. These custom banjo bolts have a 22% flow increase over the factory M12 union that threads into the inlet of your VE pump. This is a key fitting everyone seems to forget about but is the most important since all roads lead to the inlet of the VE! These banjo bolts also offer a 8% increase in flow over the factory banjo bolts on the side of the cylinder head. Now.. we've talked flow, how about fitment? If you haven't attempted it yet, you will soon find out all these aftermarket fittings to put on the inlet of your VE look neat and seem like a great idea. What you haven't realized is they don't fit for absolute $H!T... they cant seem to not hit the throttle linkage and limit your throttle travel whether its WOT travel or wanting to lower your idle screw to add more fuel screw. This will become a huge problem once you have gotten all the travel out of the pump AND the bell crank. I know thats a lot of talk about banjo bolts but once you realize the headache you are in for.. you will thank me for mentioning it!

Kit Contents:

-6AN PTFE Line & Fittings (Lift pump to Cyl. This simply plugs in on your factory spade connector on the FSS and the other wire connects to the spade on your KSB. This switch is adjustable because it needs to be set according to your setup, you do not want this switch to send power if you are "under the turbo" or "not on boost" or "not on the charger", there are plenty of ways to say this but the turbo needs to be fully lit before it powers the KSB. When you give the KSB power it advances the injection timing, and if you do that while the turbo is still spooling there is a very large chance of blowing your head gasket if you don't have the right hardware already installed to hold the head down. The factory line stays out of the way of your throttle linkage, which is great, BUT the line makes loosening the pump to case nuts to adjust timing way more cumbersome than it should be. Another big disadvantage is the factory M12 to JIC union at the pump's inlet, it is a big restriction point and flows 22% less than our upgraded banjos. The factory line also has a union behind the pump that has an o ring in it that is notorious for leaking after all these years. The factory hardline will also become a clearance issue for the throttle linkage once you unlock your pumps capabilities with some Ratman pump parts. At wide open throttle your travel will become limited due to the hardline being in the way in some cases. Most of you running an HVLP still utilize that factory hardline so that would all apply to you the most!

Now... those of you running the almighty Airdog pumps! While I love the Airdogs, the feed fittings on the pump can be a bit of an issue sometimes when trying to keep them tight and placed in a position where none of your throttle linkage components will come into contact with them. This is your ticket! These banjo swivels will clear your throttle linkage by a mile (figuratively speaking). They will also quick connect right to your plastic Airdog quick connect fittings! I promise you do not have to worry about these little banjo's flowing enough. The banjo portion of these flow 100% more than the inlet of the VE itself will allow... well, if we are being specific... its 99.6% more than that inlet will allow. So, these will absolutely keep your vane pump within the VE fed so it can maintain that case pressure!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0713/5471/2249/files/rn-image_picker_lib_temp_ea2a7707-9723-4e68-ad0c-22f2c889a69b.jpg?v=1776125668
airdog®-ii-5g-df-165-5g-1989-1993-dodge-cummins-copy
AirDog® II-5G, DF-220-5G 1994-1998

Standard kit:

This is the AirDog® II-5G DF-220 fuel system for the 1994-1998 Dodge Ram P-Pump 12V Cummins. This diesel lift pump mounts to the frame rail using the supplied sandwich plate mounting system. A draw straw is installed in the fuel tank to supply fuel to the pump. The pressure side connects directly into the side of the P-Pump, bypassing the factory fuel filter housing and block mounted pump. The injection pump return is tied into the engine return to eliminate the need for the factory filter head. The AirDog® Air/Vapor return is sent back to the tank through the filler neck return tee. This is a 220GPH (Gallon Per Hour) lift pump system for heavily modified trucks. Check out our installation manual for a list of parts that are included with this kit.

Standard kit + Sump

The PureFlow AirDog® universal fuel sump helps aid aftermarket fuel systems by utilizing gravity to pull fuel from the tank. Our redesigned sump has both a suction and return port! We integrated a dual o-ring seal to prevent leaks!
